Mosaic crochet
What is it?
Mosaic crochet is a clever technique that allows you to create beautiful geometric patterns, striking colourwork and intricate-looking designs using simple crochet stitches. You work with one colour at a time, making it much easier than it looks!
During the course, you’ll learn how mosaic crochet works, how to read a mosaic crochet chart and how to combine colours to create your own eye-catching patterned fabric.
Who is the course for?
This course is ideal for crocheters who are comfortable with the basic crochet stitches and would like to learn a new technique.You don’t need any previous experience with mosaic crochet — we’ll work through the technique together, step by step, giving you plenty of time to practise and build your confidence.

Session 1
The foundations
In the first session you’ll be introduced to the foundations of mosaic crochet and learn how this striking technique creates intricate patterns using surprisingly simple stitches.
We’ll cover how to:

Understand the basic principles of mosaic crochet

Work the basic stitches used in mosaic crochet

Change colours and carry yarn neatly

Read a simple mosaic crochet chart and written pattern
By the end of the first session, you’ll understand how a mosaic pattern is constructed and be comfortable following a simple chart.
Session 2
Patterns, colour and confidence
In the second session, we’ll build on what you learned in Session 1 and explore how to create more detailed and interesting mosaic patterns.
We’ll cover how to:

Read and follow more complex mosaic crochet charts

Recognise pattern repeats and understand how designs are built

Keep edges neat and maintain even tension

Experiment with colour combinations and see how colour choices transform a design
By the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to choose a mosaic crochet pattern and continue working independently at home.
